Can kids go on the tour? The Lighthouse website says one must be 48' tall and no age requirement, but trip advisor states no one under 12. Which is it?

The age restriction has been lifted but you must be 48” tall to climb the first 5 floors of the lighthouse

No, you have to do the tour. Reason is that it is on a military base and they will not let personal vehicles on the base. Even on the tour, you must present a valid US identification such as Driver's license or passport. We wanted to be able to drive there ourselves too, but could not. If you do find time for a tour, it was really awesome and unique as there were many more attractions on it - not just the lighthouse. Hope that helps!
