Hello everyone - it is great that you all had a wonderful trip. I am trying to figure how to cut down costs/expenses. There seems to be a HUGE difference in price in using a taxi to get around the island versus a dala dala. There may also be a difference with travel time as I guess taxis are faster, but I am not sure how much faster. Any suggestions? My base is in Stone Town, but I plan to travel one day to Matemwe/Nungwi and then one day to Paje/Jambiani. Any advice - I am all ears!

Hi everyone! I have a question. I really enjoy swimming in the ocean. I was deciding whether to do a few days in Nungwi and a few in Matemwe in August and am wondering about the tides. Is it possible to swim or is it too shallow? Also, I want to go to Paje too. Thanks!

Mateamwe is not ideal for swimming. The tide is seaweeed infested and is only knee high...you can however get a boat out which only takes ten mins and swim with dolphins
