Hello.. I plan to visit Mt. Nemrut around the end of September this year. I am a solo traveller. I'd really appreciate if someone can help me with a few queries I have. 1. Which is the closest airport to nemrut? 2. Is it safe to travel for a solo woman traveller? 3. Can it be covered in a day trip? 4. What are the approximate charges to visit? Many thanks in advance :) -A

I visited last week solo but I’m male. I would honestly say there would be no problem visiting as a solo female. I bumped into a few. The closest airport is in the City of Adiyamen but I flew to Sanliurfa as I also wanted to visit Gobekli Tepe, the biblical town of Harran and Sanliurfa itself. There are two excellent museums in Sanliurfa entrance fee to both goals Tl 40….. I honestly cannot remember the fee to trek up Nemrut but I believe it too was Tl 40. I stayed in a village pension in Karadut ( nearest village to Nemrut ) in Isik Pansiyon for €15 a night including breakfast. I opted for a 6 hour private tour of Nemrut and all the other fascinating sites provided by the owner, Murat Isik…which was well worth the approximate €40.

Does anyone know if Mount Nemrut is accessible in January or all snowed in? I'd be traveling solo and was thinking of staying at the closest hostel and arrange a tour with them but there's no point in going if the attraction is closed anyway :/

Hi, we visited in May and there was still some snow. I think the best period is between May and October. The terrain will be very difficult to handle in snow.We came from Malatya side which I think is more difficult. Later I realised it is easier from Adiyaman side. Hope this helps you.
