Farmer is a town in Hanson County, South Dakota, United States. It is part of the Mitchell, South Dakota Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 15 at the 2020 census. A majority of the early settlers being farmers caused the name to be selected. Farmer is home to Saint Peter's Grotto. The grotto was built between 1926 and 1933 by Fr. Peter N. Scheier and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
