Down in the Financial District you will find this linear park in the Wall Street Area. Nice urban design and a pleasant place to walk.Full review by Thomas V

I used to think the NY taxi’s were the most dangerous - now it’s the cyclists who see to think the Greenway is a race track. Aside from that it’s a great stretch and lots to do and see.Full review by StephenCr0ss

This is truly spectacular. New York is in the process of re-taking its waterfront from industrial use to recreation and this is a big part. We had a couple of lovely long walks here. Lots to see a…Full review by Thomas V

First you have to decide if you are biking the Greenway tip to tip(north to south) or all around Manhattan. If it is the former, it is ideal to drive to your endpoint then take the subway to the opposite point. If you decide to do the whole 32 miles around you'll park where you start and finish. If you go early enough you might get lucky with street parking near Inwood Hill park if not, there are a couple of parking garages within 2-5 blocks . Same with Battery Park but there are more Icon parking garages around there. Hope this helps. Good luck!!!

Hi I am visiting in October with my wife and 6 year old daughter. We are all fairly proficient cyclists. We would probably want to take an easy pace. Would this be suitable for this group at this time of year? Are there plenty of places to stop for refreshment entertainment. Could we lock our bikes outside in NYC. We would probably spend a few days doing this and may need to get public transport/ taxi home to hotel, which I think will be in Queens. 12 st Thanks for any of your thoughts on this. Tom

hi Tom. October is a lovely time of year to do this!. The Greenway is dotted with facilities for cyclists and pedestrians alike. It is most "woods-y" around the northern end of Inwood Hill park and depending on time of day, it can be quite empty. The eating places are mostly clustered around the middle of the western part of the loop, the eastern part is not as "entertaining" although the area around the United nations offer a spectacular view. You can go to the NYC Greenway website to get a map so you can better plan your trip. Be aware that there are a few parts that will require you to go onto regular street especially on the east side. As for locking your bikes ...I would personally advise that you take them with you or use the Citibikes (they are all over the city and you can "rent" them for a fee, although there are no such bikes for kids that I know of---check the website). Since you will be based in Queens, 12th ST is very near the Queensboro or 59th street bridge which you can cross into Manhattan. Roosevelt island is another easy and lovely place for you to bike to and around from where you are. Please be safe and enjoy! P.S. another fun adventure for proficient cyclists would be to bike across the many bridges that connect Manhattan to "other boroughs and to New Jersey"---there are 16 of them!!!
