There are trains that run from London to Yeovil, which is the nearest station, or Castle Cary is another further away option. There is a bus service from Yeovil to Yeovilton but only a limited service, which timetables can be found online. Staying locally there are pubs with rooms such as The Red Lion Babcary or The Kingston Inn at Kingston. Taxis can be booked in advance should you want to travel from these pubs, as rural bus services are basically non existent I think around here in small rural villages.
Hi, we are traveling from Australia to visit this museum, as my husband is a keen aviator enthusiast. We have allocated a couple of days, however can you recommend places to stay that is close by and not a tiny one shop village. thanks

Hi Carmel. The nearest village to the Museum is Ilchester which although small, has two hotels - the Ilchester Arms and the Northover Manor and a B&B Liongate House. There is two other pubs, a cafe, Indian and Chinese takeaways and an Italian restaurant in the village. The biggest town is Yeovil which is approximately 9 miles away and where there are more choices but the amenities are much more spread out. I hope this helps. Rachael
