Hello, I’m looking to visit Olympic National Park park for three days. The areas I’m looking to visit is HOH rainforest, ruby beach, and the hot springs. Can someone recommend the best town to stay ? Based on your 3 locations I would recommend Forks. Sol Duc isn't too far and Hoh & the beach is MUCH closer than Pt Angeles. Also, as of 10 days ago there is construction on 101 around Lake Crescent, so that could delay you another hour or so from Port Angeles to your 3 sites. Consider Rialto Beach too, if you can, the Hole in the wall/Split rock hike along the beach is fabulous (just check the tides). Enjoy, I LOVED Olympic.
Hey Andy: I am planning a cross country trip next year in May and I will be driving from Seattle to the Olympic peninsular on Highway 101 with plans to see the National Park and everything it has to offer. The plan is to do the loop and ultimately end up in Portland on this leg of the trip. I am traveling solo and am estimating that it may take me 3 days to do the loop if i include a day trip to Hurricane Ridge? I am open on how long I can stay in an area so I am open to itinerary changes. What else should I see? Where should I stay?

Hi, we did the loop in about 2 1/2 days but regret not having stayed longer. We made Olympia our base, but drove one day up the East coast to Port Angeles. We stayed at the Olympia Lodge which was very nice. We regret not staying longer there so we could take a ferry one day to Vancouver. From Port Angeles you go up to Hurricane Ridge. Hopefully the weather is clear that you can enjoy the view. Allow a couple of hours up there for hiking. The next morning we drove to Crescent Lake and Soleduck Falls. Stopped at the lake but hiked around the falls. Beautiful scenery. After that we drove to Kalaloch where we stayed at Kalaloch Lodge. Had a view of the ocean. Very peaceful. Must stop at 2nd Beach and Riviera Beach to see the sea stacks and driftwood on beach. When we let Kalaloch we went to Moss Tree Trails for another hike and then to see the largest Spruce tree in the world in Quinault. After that it was a long drive back to Olympia. We also drove to check out Mt. Ranier and Mt. Hood. Drove down to Astoria. Hiked Beacon Rock overlooking Columbia River. Hope this was helpful
