PHOENIX (AP) — Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs said Monday she is willing to work with President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration on border security issues like stopping fentanyl trafficking, but not in areas that she said could harm Arizona families such as mass deportation.

During a news conference at the Nogales Port of Entry on Nov. 18, Hobbs discussed ways to better secure the border. The governor also talked about current efforts to combat the trafficking of drugs.

Maldonado did acknowledge that he has seen border crossing times drop since the National Guard arrived. “Which helps our trade [with Mexico] and our City economically," he said. Hobbs said the border should not be a partisan issue and something both parties take seriously.
