OK, obviously cameras are not a new innovation in console gaming, and Nintendo themselves have experimented with them before with the DSi and various other devices. But the moment the Switch 2 Direct’s video started showing how it intended to use a camera, everything started getting that notorious Ninty weirdness. I smiled big.

Nintendo is launching a special camera accessory for the Switch 2 that will let you host video chats with your Switch friends. Simply called the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, it’s a camera on a stand, designed to sit next to your TV while you play.

Nintendo just dropped a boatload of Switch 2 news, including the release date, price and a launch title or two. It also announced a bevy of accessories that’ll be available for the console on June 5.

The NFL announced a multitude of rule changes on Tuesday, including a new way to measure first downs for the 2025 season.

Starting next season, a system of cameras will determine whether to award a first down rather than trot out a 10-yard chain. But humans will still decide where to spot the ball to begin with.
