Crystal Palace are considering entering the transfer market this month for a centre-back after Chadi Riad sustained a serious knee injury in training. The Morocco international is expected to miss the remainder of this season and Palace’s pre-season campaign for next term as a result of the injury.

Crystal Palace fear centre back Chadi Riad has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The injury, if confirmed, would potentially keep Riad out for the best part of a year and leaves Palace short in the centre-back area.

There are also major concerns that Cheick Doucoure will miss the rest of the season through injury. The Mali international had his minutes managed after suffering a serious Achilles injury against Luton in November 2023 and was just getting back to full fitness.

The news comes as a huge blow to Palace after Chelsea took the decision earlier this month to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan deal at Selhurst Park.
