Now, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, may be forced to sell Chrome. The browser, which was launched in 2008 and integrates with Google’s search engine, is used today by some 3.4 billion people worldwide.

"Kanter’s fantastical remedies like Chrome divestiture and AI opt-outs have no connection to the Justice Department’s original case, and requiring Google to share data with rivals will only make Google search worse for consumers," Kovacevich said, predicting the proposed remedies won't "hold up in court.”
