CGST, SGST, IGST, and cess all increased year-on-year in September, official data made available showed today. So far in 2024, the total GST collection has been 9.5 per cent higher at Rs 10.9 lakh crore, as against Rs 9.9 lakh crore mopped up in the corresponding period of 2023.

Data made public by GST portal on Tuesday showed that while collection from domestic consumption grew by around 6 per cent, that from import recorded a growth of 8 per cent.

The pace of growth of GST was 6.5 percent in September, as the country had recorded Rs 1.62 lakh crore in GST revenue in September 2023. This is the second month of single digit rise in collections and lowest pace of growth in 39 months. In June, gross GST collections had expanded 7.7 percent.
GST collection growth weakens further; September saw 6.5% growth
The growth in monthly GST collections has further weakened as gross collection in September grew by only 6.5% as against 10% rise in the previous month. The gross collections during the month was Rs 1.
