Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving told reporters during All-Star Weekend that he wants to play for Australia at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Irving was born in Melbourne while his dad was playing for the Bulleen Boomers of the now-defunct South East Australian Basketball League,

The Mavericks guard, who won a gold medal with Team USA in 2016, is in the “process” of potentially switching his allegiance.

Irving played in Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games and won a gold medal with Team USA. But in 2028, Irving may ditch the red, white and blue and trade it in for gold and green.
