The Los Angeles Lakers will honor former coach Pat Riley with a statue outside their downtown arena.The Lakers announced Monday that they have commissioned a statue to stand in Star Plaza immortalizing the coach who won four championships with the "Showtime" Lakers of the 1980s.

Just a few weeks after the Heat dedicated its home court to Pat Riley, he learned that he will also be honored on the West Coast for his work with the Lakers.

Riley, the current team president of the Miami Heat, played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1970 to 1975 and then coached the team from 1981 to 1990, helping the franchise win six championships in the process.
