While the Red Sox woo free agent Juan Soto and pursue a trade for White Sox ace Garrett Crochet, they were able to make a complementary move on Thursday by finalizing a one-year contract with lefty reliever Justin Wilson.

Left-hander Justin Wilson and the Boston Red Sox have agreed to a $2.25 million, one-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the agreement was subject to a successful physical.

The 37-year-old lefthander was with the Reds this past season after missing all of 2023 because of Tommy John surgery.
