Niko Kovac will be the new coach of Borussia Dortmund as last season’s Champions League runner-up looks to rescue a troubled season.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed Niko Kovač to become their new head coach in a club statement on Thursday morning.

Borussia Dortmund have appointed Niko Kovac as their new head coach, the Bundesliga club have announced. The 53-year-old succeeds Nuri Sahin after the former Dortmund, Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder was sacked on Jan. 22 with the team struggling in the Bundesliga and out of the German Cup.

Former Bayern Munich boss, Niko Kovac, is the successor to Nuri Sahin. Though he may not have the same connection to BVB as his predecessors Nuri Sahin and Edin Terzic, Niko Kovac is a familiar face in the Bundesliga.
