If you regularly need to copy a file path as text, an easier option would be to create a service in Automator that will do this for you. First launch Automator and create a new service workflow.

Press Ctrl-V to paste in the file location, then click OK. That’s all there is to it! No hunting through a bunch of folders to find the file you want–just paste the path and you’re done.
