AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The Maine State Legislature was back in session Tuesday with the budget still a big topic of conversation. Last Friday, Governor Mills released her proposed biennial budget of 11.6 billion dollars. Some Republicans are critical of proposals they say add more government jobs while hospitals are overlooked.

Republicans are pushing back against Gov. Janet Mills' proposed budget and the new taxes needed to fund it. The governor’s new budget would include tax increases on items like cigarettes and a new tax on streaming services like Spotify and Netflix.
