While Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards drives the lane against NBA opponents this season, “Anthony Sledwards” will soon be clearing driving lanes for Minnesota motorists. It’s one of the eight winning snowplow names in MnDOT’s annual contest.
MnDOT's 'Name a Snowplow' contest winners announced Wednesday
This is MnDOT's fifth year of the "Name a Snowplow" contest. Anne Meyere, an MnDOT spokesperson, said on Wednesday the idea to name state snowplows came from Scotland. The BCC reported the country has been naming plows, called gritters, since at least 2006.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Officials on Wednesday morning will announce the winners of this year's Name a Snowplow contest. Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger will reveal the winning names at an 11 a.m. news conference. They'll announce eight winners — one for each MnDOT district.
