Pritchard has come a long way in just a few years. It wasn't long ago that he was on the outside looking in on the career he wanted.

Backup Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard is the odd-on leader to win the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award, but the Oregon native very nearly ended up playing somewhere else, having asked for a trader from Boston earlier in his career when the young sharpshooter found himself buried in the Celtics' backcourt rotation.

Two players already have broken the previous Celtics record for made 3-pointers in a season, and another likely will soon. Payton Pritchard wouldn't be surprised if two more did so next season.
