More than 170 students in University of Texas System schools have had their visas revoked by the Trump administration, officials confirm.

The AP reports that leaders at many U.S. schools learned the legal status of some international students had been canceled when they checked a federal database.

While not all the affected schools said immigration status changes were tied to activism, they come as the Trump administration cracks down on students who protested Israel’s war in Gaza.
