1. American 6-1: The AAC’s only loss was Tulane’s 33-8 defeat to Florida. The only AAC team left is North Texas, which plays Texas State in the First Responder Bowl.

In the first CFP game on Saturday, the ACC runners-up, the No. 11 SMU Mustangs, were blasted by the No. 6 Penn State Nittany Lions 38-10. It was ugly from the get-go for SMU, falling behind 28-0 in the first half. Quarterback Kevin Jennings didn't do the Mustangs any favors, throwing for three interceptions.
