Instagram's new Edits app will be available this spring. But thanks to new presidential action, creators can still use TikTok's CapCut.

Instagram has announced Edits, a free video editing app that sounds a lot like CapCut. In a video posted to Threads on Sunday, Instagram head Adam Mosseri described Edits as a "full suite of creative tools," and briefly ran through its planned features.

Instagram announced that it is launching its own free video editing app named Edits. The move makes sense for a platform that's been pushing video content for quite some time, yet lacked any refined editing tools.

On the same day that TikTok was banned for several hours, Instagram announced a new video editing app named Edits.

Instagram on Sunday rolled out Edits, a video-editing product that appeared similar to CapCut, which is owned by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance.
