A controversial South Korean church with powerful political connections faces dissolution in Japan after a Tokyo court issued an order to revoke its legal status.

A Japanese court on Tuesday issued an order to dissolve the Unification Church, upholding the government request for a revocation, NHK television said

The church said it was considering an appeal of the revocation order, which would take away its tax-exempt privilege and require liquidation of its assets.
