Following a challenging tenure under Jason Gillespie, the Pakistan Cricket Board is poised to appoint Aaqib Javed as the new head coach.

Gillespie was originally expected to continue at least till the upcoming Champions Trophy, as PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi previously was extremely happy with his appointment and considered him and Kirsten to be ‘best possible coaches’. However, neither of them lasted over a year.

According to reports, PCB is set to sack its red-ball coach Jason Gillespie and name Aqib Javed as all-format head coach till the ICC Champions Trophy.
