President Trump called a bishop who pleaded with him to "have mercy" on migrants and the LGBTQ+ community "nasty" and "not very good at her job."

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday demanded an apology from the Episcopal bishop of Washington after she made a direct appeal to him during a prayer service marking his inauguration to have mercy on the LGBTQ+ community and migrant workers who are in the United States illegally.

President Donald Trump attended the inaugural prayer service Tuesday at Washington National Cathedral, where a sermon on unity called out the president to "have mercy on the people in our country who are scared.

In her sermon, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington was openly critical of the president.

The reverend at the National Cathedral prayer service for the inauguration called on President Trump to have mercy on transgender children and immigrant families in her sermon on Tuesday. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde said to Trump,
