The cold snap has well and truly arrived, with snow set to fall in parts of the country throughout the week ahead - starting as early as this evening according to Met Eireann

Northern Ireland is bracing itself for an icy blast with a weather warning for snow and ice issued. The yellow alert comes into affect at 3pm on Monday and will last until 10am on Tuesday. The Met Office explained that outbreaks of rain spreading west during the afternoon will turn to sleet and wet snow at times.

A snow-ice warning has been issued for three counties tonight as temperatures are set to plummet below freezing this week, Met Éireann has warned.
