Joann, the well-known fabrics and craft store company, has announced plans to close approximately 500 stores across the country as it seeks to reorganize during Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company announced this week.

Crafts and fabric retailer Joann plans to close around 500 stores, or roughly half its total, as part of its ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.

Fabric and crafts chain Joann filed a motion to close hundreds of underperforming stores as part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

The initial store closing list for crafting retailer Joann includes at least one location in all 50 states, except Hawaii.

The fabric and crafts chain is looking to sell the business and said in a filing that closing “underperforming” locations is necessary to complete that process.

Following a filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month, Joann has announced that they have filed a motion seeking court authority to begin closing approximately 500 stores nationwide.

Not on the closure list are central Indiana stores at 8714 Castle Creek Parkway E. Drive in Indianapolis, at Avon Town Square in Avon, and at Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood.
