Indian Railways has set a new record by operating 364 outward trains from various stations in Prayagraj on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on 29 January, facilitating the return of devotees after their holy dip in Sangam. This marks the highest number of trains run in a single day during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.

Two stampedes have occurred on Wednesday in Prayagraj at the Maha Kumbh Mela ahead of the festival of Mauni Amawasya. While the stampede at Sangam Nose killed 30 people, another stampede in Setor 18 killed seven devotees.
