DETROIT -- First baseman Keston Hiura, who spent part of 2024 in the Detroit Tigers organization, has signed a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies, MLB.com reported this week. Hiura, 28, signed with the Tigers at the start of last spring training after spending his entire career in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Hiura is the change-of-scenery candidate who has been just as hurt as Rodgers throughout his career. He does have a 138 OPS+ season on his record from back in 2019 and put up a 113 OPS+ in 2022 but didn’t play at all in 2023 and put up -0.6 bWAR last season. He will need to show a strong and healthy Spring Training to make the roster.

The Rockies announced 23 players received a non-roster invite to 2025 spring training, a mix of up-and-coming prospects as well as players who have seen major league service time with other clubs.
