Eberflus is set to interview with Dallas for the DC gig today, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that meeting is expected to result in a hire. Provided that proves to be the case, this will mark a return to the Cowboys for Eberflus. He worked as the team’s linebackers coach from 2012-17.

Dallas has also hired Nick Sorenson to serve as special teams coordinator under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was named the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. Eberflus is no stranger to the Cowboys, with whom he served as the linebackers coach and pass game coordinator from 2011-17.

The Colts reached the playoffs twice and were a top-10 scoring defense three times in Eberflus’ four seasons as defensive coordinator. Chicago went 14-32 under Eberflus and never had better than the league’s 18th-best scoring defense.

New defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, whom the Bears picked Sunday night, figures to interview position coaches to come work for him. The Bears already agreed to hire Al Harris as the secondary coach/defensive pass-game coordinator, replacing Jon Hoke.
