No strangers to making a splash on the opening day of the international signing period, the Rockies have agreed to a deal with infielder Larry Suero, MLB Pipeline’s No. 34 prospect in the 2025 class.

The Colorado Rockies drafted outfielder Sam Hilliard in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB Draft from Wichita State University. At 6’4″ and 236 lbs, Hilliard’s plus speed and ability to hit for power intrigued the Rockies.

Hiura, who was one of the top prospects in the sport several years ago, is looking for another chance in Colorado.

DETROIT -- First baseman Keston Hiura, who spent part of 2024 in the Detroit Tigers organization, has signed a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies, MLB.com reported this week. Hiura, 28, signed with the Tigers at the start of last spring training after spending his entire career in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

The Athletic’s “desperate for more pitching” line doesn’t quite ring true. Right-hander Ryan Feltner is ready to bust out, and veteran lefties Kyle Freeland and Austin Gomber give the Rockies a chance to win when they take the mound.

Daniel Bard, who is still recovering from elbow surgery, is planning to return to the mound in February and land with a new club once the regular season begins.

The Rockies have agreed to minor league deals with infielder Keston Hiura and outfielder Nick Martini, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Hiura, a CAA client, will be in major league camp with Colorado. It wasn’t specified if Martini will get an invite as well.

The Rockies signed Martini to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

With the start of spring training a little over a month away, MLB teams are still trying to piece together their rosters.
