LANSING, MI -- A Clinton County woman’s yearly tradition landed her a $1 million jackpot prize while she was playing the Michigan Lottery’s Major Cashword instant game.
LAPEER COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man had a very happy New Year’s Eve after he found out he won a $1 million lottery prize. Robert Benaglio, of Dryden, matched the five white balls in the Dec. 23 Powerball drawing to win. He bought his winning ticket at the Metamora BP, located at 3839 South Lapeer Road in Metamora.
“I have bought a Powerball ticket for one drawing each week for 10 years,” Robert Benaglio said, according to a Jan. 22 news release from the Michigan Lottery. So, he purchased a ticket for the Dec. 23 drawing at a gas station in Metamora. This time, winning him a $1 million prize.

A ticket sold in Michigan has won $2 million in Saturday night's Powerball drawing, according to the Michigan Lottery. The ticket matched the five white balls drawn — 14, 31, 35, 64 and 69 —and along with the the Power Play, the ticket won $2 million.
A Powerball ticket sold in Michigan won $2 million, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning Powerball numbers and the Power Play multiplier, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Saturday, Jan. 18, the national Powerball site said.
Robert Benaglio, of Dryden, matched the five white balls in the Dec. 23 drawing to win the big prize: 22-42-44-57-64. He bought his winning ticket at the Metamora BP, located at 3839 South Lapeer Road in Metamora. Dryden is about 35 miles east of Flint.
"In 2024, 10 Michigan Lottery players became millionaires playing the Powerball game, including a lottery club that won an $842.4 million jackpot," added Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli.
Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A North Carolina man made a stop to put gas in his car and ended up winning a $200,000 lottery prize. Demarte Harris of Salisbury told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he stopped at Kangaroo Express on Statesville Road in Salisbury and bought a $200,000 Money Rush scratch-off ticket while filling up his tank.
Powerball lottery drawings are 11 pm EST Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, including holidays. Jackpot for Jan. 27, 2025, was a whopping $56 million
The Mega Millions jackpot was one twice in less than a month and now sits at $28 million for the drawing on Friday, Jan. 24.
