When the state of Illinois shut down the century-old, maximum-security prison last year, nearly four of every five inmates ended up being sent to less-secure sites, The Associated Press found.

After several meetings since June on the possibilities for a new jail, the Fond du Lac County Jail Ad Hoc Committee released its findings Feb. 11.

An inmate at the Henry County Adult Detention Center has filed suit against the jail, Sheriff Wayne Davis, and three deputies for being kept isolated in solitary confinement for nearly 16 months.

The Collins Correctional Facility remains on lockdown as of Wednesday evening after an incident earlier in the day.
