Launch the Excel 2010 spreadsheet that holds the scatter plot you want to adjust. Click anywhere on the chart, then click the "Layout" tab that appears at the top of the Excel window.

Load the Excel worksheet containing the chart you want to edit. Click the chart into which you want to insert a legend. Click the "Charts" tab on the ribbon to load the Charts group.
