A person is dead and a Louisville Metro Police Department officer is in the hospital after a crash on Fern Valley Road.

LMPD said an officer headed on a distress run on I-65 when they collided with a vehicle on Fern Valley Road late Wednesday.

To make the seconds count, Metro paramedics will rely on the American Red Cross Kentucky Region to deliver and stock life-saving blood on-board ambulances.
