A memo obtained by Hollywood Reporter said with company merger Paramount would "reimagine and optimize [their] events slate going forward."

CMT is among the Paramount divisions hit with extensive layoffs in 2024. Meanwhile, cable networks like Nickelodeon and MTV are reportedly not priorities for Skydance. Amid the company’s competitors shedding or restructuring cable networks, it’s possible those brands will be dropped from the Paramount portfolio altogether.

The Hollywood Reporter reports how the ceremony — along with the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choices Awards Mexico and the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) — was a casualty of Paramount Global’s merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media.
