Snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain blanketed parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic on Monday, leaving tens of thousands without power.

A major winter storm sweeping much of the U.S. was producing heavy snow and ice as it threatened areas from the Central Plains through Mid-Atlantic — leaving tens of millions under weather alerts Sunday.

Every state from Kansas to Delaware logged at least one report of 10 inches or more of snow. At one point, some 70 million Americans were under winter storm warnings.
