Southern California firefighters made progress against a wildfire that has destroyed 132 structures, mostly houses, and was fanned by gusty winds that began easing Friday, allowing some people to return to sort through the charred remains of their homes.

At least 130 homes have been destroyed by a wildfire raging outside Los Angeles, as a break in the weather Friday gave firefighters a chance to tame the blaze.

Some 10,000 people remained under evacuation orders Thursday as the fire continued to threaten about 3,500 structures.
