A nationwide furniture and appliance store is closing all locations including one in Columbia and 9 others. Sales are underway.

The Tacoma location of American Freight will close along with the other 327 stores in the United States. The parent company of the nationwide appliance and furniture store, Franchise Group, began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in federal court in Delaware.

A large furniture chain announced the closure of all of its locations nationwide earlier this month, including many in Virginia and one in Maryland. American Freight has already begun closing down its 328 locations and its online warehouse.

Franchise Group, based in Delaware, Ohio, is the parent company of American Freight and other stores including Vitamin Shoppes.

"Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale," said Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer-Retail, which is handling the closing sale. "Everything is on sale and must be sold, and we recommend shopping early for the best selection." Financing and delivery are still available, but all sales are final.

Liquidator Hilco Consumer-Retail announced the shuttering of 328 locations nationwide and the start of store-closing sales.

Store closing sales have begun in-store and online, with discounts of up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices.

The Ohio-based discount retailer is closing 328 furniture, appliance and mattress stores, including 10 in Southern California, the Orange County Register reported, citing an announcement by liquidator Hilco Consumer-Retail.

Franchise Group cited "sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges facing the large durable goods sector" as reasons to shut down 300-plus locations.
