Republican Lindsey Graham said it was a mistake to pardon anyone who "beat up a police officer" at US Capitol.

Trump pardoned about 1,500 people who were charged for their actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. That number includes 172 who pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers. Graham, however, points out that Trump said he would grant the pardons if he was reelected.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he doesn’t approve of President Trump’s pardoning of the Jan. 6 rioters, especially those who “beat up cops” who were defending the Capitol. “No,” Graham said, when asked whether he’s OK with the most violent offenders on Jan.

There have been mixed emotions among those President Trump pardoned for their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
