Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has called the country’s business leaders to a meeting on Thursday after US President-elect Donald Trump last week threatened military or economic action such as tariffs to take control of Greenland.

The CEO of obesity drug manufacturer Novo Nordisk and heads of other Danish companies were expected to discuss preparations for a possible trade conflict with the United States over Greenland with Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Thursday.

The European Commission said they have the tools to deal with "unfair economic coercion against a single member state".
