Vanderbilt women's basketball ranked No. 23 in the AP poll released Monday morning after defeating Alabama, 66-64, in Tuscaloosa on Sunday. The Commodores (17-4, 4-3 SEC) have been receiving votes in both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Polls for most of the season but have yet to crack the rankings.

A trio of 20-plus point scorers were too much for the Commodores to bear. Auburn transfer Aden Holloway led the Tide with 22 points, matched by a career-high performance for Mouhamed Dioubate. Mark Sears followed with 21 points.

The No. 19 Alabama women's basketball team came up short on Sunday, losing 66-64 to Vanderbilt at home. The Crimson Tide welcomed Sarah Ashlee Barker back into the lineup for the first time in five games.
