Investigators recovered $770,000 worth of stolen Tiffany & Co. earrings last week after the alleged thief who swallowed the jewelry "expelled" them from his system, Florida police said.

The man allegedly swallowed two pairs of earrings worth $769,500 (£597,000) hoping to avoid being charged with theft.

The police in Orlando, Fla., said that a suspect spent time in a hospital while they waited for the stolen jewels to be “expelled from his system.”
