As a child he was adopted by the late Clifford Larson, who with his wife Anna Grode, raised him in Erie, PA amid a big German family including his grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A dedicated church deacon, he was an active member of Grace Slavic Pentecostal Church in Erie, PA. He found joy in fishing, tending his garden, and helping maintain his building’s grounds.
