HOUSTON (KTRK) - A Houston firefighter was killed and another injured while fighting a warehouse fire overnight in Texas. The fire broke out at a vacant building just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, but the blaze quickly escalated, and a wall collapsed. Fire crews called for a second alarm and there was a mayday call after the collapsed wall.

Houston firefighter Marcelo Garcia, 42, died in the line of duty, officials say. The fire chief asks Houstonians to keep Garcia's family and the department in their prayers.

Officials identified the firefighter killed as 42-year-old Marcelo Garcia, who had been with HFD for 10 years.
