At the end of a long manifesto about what’s broken about today’s biggest social media platforms, BuzzFeed Founder and CEO Jonah Peretti revealed that the company is working on a new social media platform that uses human curation rather than algorithms “that brings joy and playfulness back to the internet.”

BuzzFeed, which also owns HuffPost and Tasty, plans to tackle the addictive social media environment by making “content that gives you a little buzz, helps you relax, have a good time, and connect with your friends,” while also launching this new social media platform of its own.

The digital-media company said its designing a social platform that will contrast with algorithm-centric ones.

So what should BuzzFeed do to regain its onetime foothold in internet culture? Start its own social network, of course.
