The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) is laying off 2,199 workers in Washington, according to Washington state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed Friday. The layoffs are a part of a wider cost-cutting measure that includes slashing 17,000 jobs companywide, or roughly 10% of the aerospace giant’s workforce.

Boeing says it will be several weeks before it fully resumes building passenger planes, as factory workers return following a strike that lasted nearly two months.
