Sheetz wanted to convert the site of a former restaurant into a gas station at 12 Mile and Middlebelt but faced firm opposition from residents.

Council members agreed with residents, who said the proposed 24-hour gas station, convenience store and restaurant was not a good fit for the 12 Mile and Middlebelt location.

The Farmington Hills City Council voted Monday night not to approve a proposed Sheetz location at the intersection of 12 Mile and Middlebelt roads.
