Joe Biden became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the Amazon rainforest on Sunday (November 17), flagging the dangers of global warming often dismissed by President-elect Donald Trump, who has vowed to scrap measures to fight climate change.

President Joe Biden highlighted his climate legacy in Brazil on Sunday during a visit to the Amazon rainforest, the first by a sitting U.S. president.

Biden declared that nobody can reverse “the clean energy revolution that’s underway in America” even as the incoming Trump administration is poised to scale back efforts to combat climate change.

"Some may seek to deny or delay the clean energy revolution that's underway in America, but nobody — nobody — can reverse it," Biden said. But Trump has vowed to roll back those plans.

"I will leave my successor [Trump] and my country with a strong foundation to build on if they choose to do so," he said.

The president toured the rainforest and promised Brazil funds for environmental initiatives, even as the incoming Trump administration appears poised to roll them back.
